20th October 2014

Crowland Cranes has recently completed the UK’s largest-ever recovery of a crane. After five months of meticulous planning, documentation, legal and HSE investigations Crowland Cranes were able to fly a team of four engineers to Peterhead where the whole operation attracted a huge amount of TV and local media interest. The 16-wheel Liebherr lifting machine sank into soft ground at Dales Park industrial estate back in May, only two weeks after Whyte Crane Hire had taken delivery of the crane,Crowland Cranes designed and manufactured the specialist equipment needed for the recovery and is Aviva insurance’s only approved crane repair and recovery centre in the UK. The successful recovery of the crane was completed using three 500 tonne capacity cranes lifting a combined load of 300 tonnes. The total recovery took five days to prepare, recover and dismantle the crane ready for the road. All the time and effort committed to the recovery ensured that everything went smoothly within the allocated time.
